LibreOffice - Event Input wizard

Post by BillNoise »

Is anyone having problems with the Event Input Wizard? Whenever I try to select it I get a "Something went wrong. Please try again." popup message. The Lat/Long Wizard and the Sea Surface Temp Wizard appear to be working fine, it's just the Event Input Wizard that's giving me problems.

No problems here (at the moment).
What version of LibreOffice and what ODS file (ship, year, version) are you using?

You might try downloading a fresh spreadsheet and seeing if that helps.

I downloaded a fresh ODS file and it's still doing the same thing. The LibreOffice version I'm using is 24.8.2.1.

Have you made any changes to the system from when it was working - like updating LibreOffice?
We usually recommend using the older version of LibreOffice.
Here that would be 24.2.6 rather than 24.8.2.

What is the name of your ODS file?

24.8.2 is the current stable version. Looks like we need to look into whether something has changed that conflicts with our macros.

I just installed 24.8.2.1 on Linux and I'm getting the same error when opening the Event Wizard.

So it looks like OW transcribers should not upgrade to 24.8.2 until we figure out what has changed and see if it's something we can work around.

I'll check out 24.8.2 at a later time, but it could be a couple of months from now.

When trying to save with Alt-U I get this problem.
This message came up
"Unable to write the file to disk.
There may be a problem saving to the f:\OW_Data directory.
Perhaps you could try saving to a different directory."

F:\OW_Data opens from the setup page buttons.
Chkdsk showed no problems with F:

F:\OW_Data which has been my default since I started OW. Partition space shows 64 Gb free.
NO changes have been made to the computer and all my previous saves have been successful. I did a cold reboot.

Saved the filled in page using Libre save and thats OK. Calc opened it an my data was still there.

Then I tried to save again and got this message "To Continue, please click the Next button on the Verification Message." with an OK button showing.
Clicked OK and message disappeared. No message or Next button showing.

I will leave this in someones capable hands.

That messasge comes from the Write_XML macro. I just tried it with Tuscarora_1867-1880_v3_5h.ods and I had no problems. I'm on the LibreOffice version shown below. I suggest you just try clicking the Write button again. If that doesn't work, download a new version of the file and use it.

Code: Select all

Version: 24.8.2.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 0f794b6e29741098670a3b95d60478a65d05ef13
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (10.0 build 22000); UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-CA (en_CA); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

I opened xl and one of my files. Save as to ow_data and it worked and the opened file was ok.
