Re: Coronavirus

Got pinged for the second time in two months (UK), this time from a pretty close contact. Test came back negative today, feeling very lucky that I dodged it this time.

Was living in Northern Italy at the start of the pandemic as well, and a bunch of people in my appartment block got COVID during the first wave, I have no idea how I managed to avoid getting it so far, but feeling very lucky not to have caught it so far. At this point I have been fully vaccinated so I'm more worried about passing it on to others, and the inconvenience of having to isolate than any serious health effects to myself, but this one was a bit scary.

Oof! Well done to avoid the menace so far. Perhaps you are wisely cautious and keep your distance, and keep your mask on and do all the other recommended things? ;) :)

Well - at least you can get out and enjoy walking around with our brollies. Glad to hear that NSW made it through lockdown :)

Just got my shingles vaccination. It's the first of two.
So far, no side effects except a slight soreness at the site of the shot.

The area right around the injection is fairly sore today, but that's the only reaction so far.

Sounds like it won't get to be too painful, Randi :) Fingers crossed.

Had my flu jab last Saturday. Sometimes it's come up like half an egg, this time absolutely nothing - hurrah! :D

My arm is better, but still a little sore.
Fortunately, that is the only reaction I have had to the shingles shot.

I was very sick after each of my shingles shots.

I got my flu shot last Sunday. Almost no pain in the shoulder, but felt mildly ill for the rest of the day and much of the next day.

Yesterday I got my COVID-19 Pfizer booster shot. There's mild pain in the shoulder. I was very weak and tired the rest of the day yesterday, but woke up this morning feeling great. I wear a Fitbit while sleeping and it gave me the highest sleep score it's ever given me.

Wow Gordon - that sounds like the sort of booster I need after a busy week at work let alone to fight a pandemic :D

I'd mentioned how a flu shot made my arm sore, and was asked if the provider told me to relax my arm. Nope. I've had providers tell me to do that... And that's why. Since then I've taken care to be sure my arm is not tense and I've not had tenderness around the arm. Now I will say after my first Covid shot my arm was really hot (go immune system!).

I just learned that earlier this year from the person giving me a covid shot.
I tried to do it for the shingles shot but that didn't seem to help. Unlike the covid shots, which I hardly felt, this hurt a bit so it was harder to relax.

Had my flu jab yesterday and I'd forgotten about the advise to relax your arm but I must have been reasonably relaxed (as much as I get in medical situations!) as my arm's OK this morning.

Flu shot yesterday. No ill effects at all, although I did feel the need to go out and rake leaves.
