Sometimes you will find easy to read log pages.

Sometimes you won't.

It may seem rather daunting in the beginning, but don't give up!
Once you learn the vocabulary, reading the logs becomes much easier.

Here in the Library, there are many topics that will help you to understand the terminology and help you to puzzle out the names of places, people, and ships.

Your fellow transcribers are also a valuable resource.
There are topics for each voyage, and you may find your question answered there.
These topics are also generally the best places to ask questions.
For an example, see USS Sacramento.

When you ask a question, if you can, please post a link to the page you are asking about (see Guide to posting links and images for help).
If you are unable to post a link, please specify the name of the ship and the date.

You can also post questions in this topic.
