Commonly found place names mentioned in whaling logs

I hope that this list will help folks new to whaling trips around the Arctic. At 7th Oct 2019 it is still in development, but I do hope that it will be helpful even so.

After checking the relevant area Reference topic, if you have found a new place name, or a new spelling of a place name, or an alternative name for a known place, please do put that information into the relevant discussion topic within the Geographical Help Board for propriome's care as the moderator of that board.

Generally: places on the Eastern side of the Bering Sea come under Alaskan Place Names -- Reference and places on the Western side of the Bering sea come under Russian Place Names -- Reference
In addition you can look the for the place in the Arctic Whalers' Place-Names Gazetteer, but do not use the latitude and longitudes in your transcription log book!
