I've had an idea ... What about the OW cooking challenge? Contestants are given a list of 'provisions received' from one of our ships and have to come up with something nutritious and delicious - or failing that, at least edible.
To start off - Britomart has just received 44 lbs of meat, 2 sheep, 100 lbs of onions, 100lbs of pumpkins (I think - take a look at the page below), and 78 lbs bread. Any suitable recipes?

Seems like nobody is biting into that challenge.

Part of the problem may be that on the Alaskan voyages we have to take most of our supplies with us. However, we catch a lot of fish, or perhaps I should say we go fishing.
You can see from the above

Maybe the next few people to get supplies can list them here to see what others can cook up

All sounds like a pumpkin casserole to me. Chunks on pumpkin, sliced onion, a binder of some sort, and meaty bits. With a breadcrumbs sprinkled on top. If no binder then a stew. If they had cheese they could float slices of bread with cheese on top, like French onion soup.

Any good reindeer recipes?
I remember one of the logs mentioned keeping a reindeer for food while transporting a herd to one of the islands.

Caribou is excellent! Better than anything else I have eaten.

How about working with just £3.61 per person, per day?
That's what the
chefs of the modern Royal Navy do, and it actually sounds really good!

Great find!
It's a bit low on the vegetables for my taste

The Royal Navy menus remind me of grade school cafeteria. Great cooks, especially the baker. Instead of "Tossed salad, cole slaw and Cheese" we always had Fruit cup, raisins and cheese. I think the raisins and cheese were from the Department of Agriculture. They supported farmers and we got raisins and cheese.
