Moving to a new computer. Help!

My current, 7-year-old, Dell computer is starting to have problems (occasional threatening noises on waking up and not always seeing the removable backup drive when I insert it), so to play it safe I bought a new one on Cyber Monday.

I do have access to the cloud with Microsoft One Drive.

I think I can manage it, but if you have any tips on making the transfer they would be very welcome. Please send them to me in a PM.

P.S. Just tried inserting the backup drive and was able to start the backup!!!!

However, I do not see any recent files when I look at the drive with file explorer.

Current computer is Windows 10. New one is Windows 11.

Win 10 and win are not different when backing up or transferring files.

I assume you mean files you have not backed up are the ones you cannot see?
Try drag and drop the files yo are
missing from the win 10 computer files onto the backup drive (not backup) they drag from backup drive to new pc.

"All squared away" is probably a bit much to claim, but the essential things are working
