On the weather page, please enter: date, locations, distances (nautical miles and tenths), courses, and all the weather data in the columns outlined in red in the spreadsheet.
It is not necessary to record State of the Sea.
However, ice mentioned in the weather grid should be transcribed using the magenta Sea column.

On the events page please enter: ice, location information, and sailing information.
Aurorae, volcanic, and seismic activity should be reported in the forum.
The names of US Navy and Coast Guard ships met should be noted. This gives the science team a chance to compare weather readings. You can include all ships mentioned in a single entry without a time or any additional data.
Other events are optional.

One person can do both weather and events (Stream 1), but the system also allows one person to do the weather page (Stream 1) and a second person to do the events page (Stream 3).
Unlike in OW3, where three transcriptions were required for each page, we are doing only one transcription per page.

Every transcriber needs to enter the date.
The date is used to organize the pages.

Lieut Bates USMC with Marine Gruard landed to ???? Order on the island during absence of the ship. Landing party was given rations for 10 days and 2000 ball cartridges.

Having the e's written with a shape like a cursive E not e that fooled me. Christine and I struggled with it, and I even showed her how some e's were written like a cursive E in other words, but I never put 2 and 2 together to see that's how they were written in this word. She did identify the first letter as a p.

Frankly, many of those letters were open to interpretation, and most of his e's were the 'normal' cursive e.

I expected it would be preserve but I could not see it.

The supply office is very precise in it delivery, for the last 3 days we have had delivered 59lb bread, 73 & 3/4lbs beef, 73 & 3/4lb vegetables.

The ship is nailed to the dock in New Your and they are now entering its course (WSW) in each line. I would be worried if it changed and the ship did not move.

Another lot of food arrived same as above.

It does not make sense. The only thing that does make sense is strat. My guess is that he couldn't read the entry in the deck log and wrote his best guess. Just enter strat.

The Australian Man of War "Aurora" came into the harbor from the south.

Not sure which Aurora it was but maybe this one as I cannot find one from Australia.?
