This is neat. I was up early this morning and was surprised how much shorter the days are getting. We have such short dawn and dusk. I miss those hours from when I lived further north. Have a good day, all.

Dam things keep filling up. :?

Regional NSW dam levels (%) Friday 23 September 11 of regional NSW 18 dams are at our above capacity
Blowering Dam 96.2
Brogo Dam 100.9
Burrendong Dam 130.9
Burrinjuck Dam 94.2
Carcoar Dam 100.2
Chaffey Dam 102.8
Copeton Dam 101
Glenbawn Dam 102.4
Glennies Creek Dam* 102.4
Hume Dam 97.6
Keepit Dam 99.6
Lake Wyangala 96.7
Lostock Dam 100.9
Menindee Lakes Total 105.8
Pindari Dam 102.9
Split Rock Dam 95.6
Toonumbar Dam 100.8
Windamere Dam 88.8

100 per cent just means that's the optimal level and anything above that is extra water that possibly could be released.

I guess that means you can have a cup of tea without having to worry about running out of water...

Our reservoirs are at 69% of where they should be. We are creeping up on the wet season, so there is hope.
A nice warm bath sounds good tome :D

This September was the warmest and driest on record. I am comparing the data collected from our weather station with from Environment Canada's weather station at the University of Victoria. The data from that station goes back to 1993.

So far today, we've recorded 23.7 C. That's a full seven degrees above the normal high for the first of October, and 2.9C above the previous record maximum temperature for the day. It also breaks the highest max temperature for the month of October; the previous record being 23.1 set in 2020.

That beat the previous record of 23.7 set on the 1st.

Starting our historic "Dry" month. Don't expect anything. We're hoping after that.

We've had multiple days of frigid wetness here in Northern Virginia, but it's supposed to be back in the 70s (Fahrenheit) by Thursday. Today I've got my little space heater going under my desk because we're not ready to kick on the furnace yet.

Spent 3 days on Santa Catalina Is, just off the coast of Long Beach CA. The water was VERY calm on the trip over and back on a large catamaran. Weather there is very predictable. Late afternoon clouds show up in a bank of overcast and leave again about 10:45 the next morning. So much for seeing stars, a warm pleasant days. It is a favorite port for cruise ships coming from Vancouver or leaving from Long Beach/ Los Angeles.
