Very nice find!

I've placed it on a low underwater bank which is near the 10 fathoms line, about 300 yards from the point itself: http://fishing-app.gpsnauticalcharts.co ... /-139.7921

Old Harbor (on Kodiak Island)
https://www.geonames.org/5870746/old-harbor.html

Referenced here at 2:45 PM.
https://catalog.archives.gov/OpaAPI/med ... 4_0206.JPG

Initially I thought it must be an old harbor somewhere around the city of Kodiak, but it turns out to be a small village at a different location on the island.

29 July 1894 Thrasher https://archive.org/details/logbookofth ... 8/mode/1up

Thrasher notes 'Returned Reef' about half way between Point Barrow and Herschel Island. The proper name in the Geographical Help Board for Alaska is:

Return Islands 70.48167 -148.88111

Return Reef See Return Islands

Please could we had 'Returned Reef' to the listing? Many thanks :)

Molgrave Hills Belvedere, ODHS 222, 23rd July 1897

The log keeper notes the Mulgrave Hills as 'Molgrave Hills':
Image

If the writes the letter 'v' running onto the letter 'e' the 'v' can look like an 's'. This clip from the shows the 'v' in 'Navarch' and 'saved'. 7th September 1897

Excursion Inlet
https://www.geonames.org/5846129/excursion-inlet.html

Excursion Inlet Cannery Dam
https://www.geonames.org/5846135/excurs ... y-dam.html
Given the image, the distance from Excursion Inlet, and comments in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excursion_Inlet,_Alaska, I suspect that this location is not quite correct or maybe not current :?

I think the Excursion Inlet Cannery Dam is absolutely misplaced in geonames.

There were two canneries in the inlet (one at the actual Excursion Inlet populated place, one more inside the inlet to the north, both are mentioned in the articles)... which year the log was? we should have good detailed maps, both modern and old for the area.

Based on the date, I was probably working on setting up Tallapoosa, so the year would be between 1931 and 1937.
