I briefly read the 8am course as W1/8W but realized that wasn't possible.
A second look showed it to be S1/8W — sabotaged by the y of foggy.

I initially read "USS Rush fired a salute in horror of the day" before realizing it was "in honor of the day".

The last sentence in the second paragraph really looks like "Broke a cat out from sail locker for use of ...", took me some time to work out it's actually "Broke a cot out from sail locker"
But I do like the idea of getting to cuddle with the ship's cat when you're sick

Two many months spent on the Concord!

I was quickly scanning this page for a particular course change and, at 1758, I thought I saw,
1758 Secured from drunken ship.

When I opened that page the first things my eyes lit upon was:

I hope they didn't get exploded when they had a hang over from being drunken - that'd be very unpleasant. ;)

Can't quite read the 5 AM line, but I'm pretty sure it is not "Chewed up everything except topsails"!

Probably Clewed up...
clew down, Nautical. to secure (a sail) in an unfurled position.
clew up, Nautical. to haul (the lower corners of a square-rig sail) up to the yard by means of the clew lines.

Mind you, I like the idea of the crew chewing on the sails...
