Don't worry about being a Geography minor, some days I couldn't even find my way home from the pub.

Matsuwa-saki, Japan with alternate name Cape Sagami
https://www.geonames.org/1857465/matsuwa-saki.html
I can't find any current references to Cape Sagami, but there seem to be several 19th century references to the name. This document,
https://archive.org/stream/cu3192407116 ... 4_djvu.txt, mentions that Tsurugi saki,
https://www.geonames.org/1849582/tsurugi-saki.html, is located on the southeastern point of Cape Sagami. That would indicate that Cape Sagami is the same as Matsuwa-saki
Cape Sagami is referenced here at Noon:

https://archive.org/details/cu319240711 ... p?q=sagami may be a bit more readable, but maybe not more helpful?
https://www.geonames.org/1849582/tsurugi-saki.html gives Cape Sagami in its list of alternate names.

Matteo's db.

How odd. At Michael's encouragement, I created a MySQL database on my computer and downloaded the Geonames database for Japan into my database to help with figuring out these locations. The record for tsurugi-saki that was downloaded includes all of the other alternate names, but not Cape Sagami. The only explanation I can think of is that I did the download a couple of months ago and Cape Sagami was added since then, but that's unlikely.
Here is the alternate names list from the Geonames download.
Ken-zaki;Kenga-saki;Tsurugi Zaki;Tsurugi-saki;Turugi Saki

I see Cape Sagami in OW tools, but not in the list on the forum.
For some reason, when I downloaded Matteo's database, I didn't get the aliases. I'll have to see if I can add them to my copy.

I just downloaded the Geonames database for Japan again and see that the record for Tsurugi Saki now includes Cape Sagami. I rechecked what I downloaded in March and it did not include Cape Sagami. The record for Tsurugi Saki was last updated on May 20; so that explains why my search didn't find anything for Cape Sagami.
If you click on the history button for Tsurugi Saki on Geonames, you get this:
4 2022-05-20 12:00:59.353 propriome add name :en Cape Sagami(h)
3 2021-03-04 11:10:26.45 propriome name:Tsurugi-saki>Tsurugi Saki cc2:JP>null
2 2019-04-29 10:16:21.923 propriome movement 0.025 km
1 2018-01-14 10:23:22.142 mlit adm2:null>1856849
0 2015-02-06 12:24:59.053 propriome movement 0.244 km
This gives you an idea of how busy Matteo is to keep all these places up-to-date.

This is my best find. Ashuelot mentioned Papenberg Island a couple of times. I could find nothing in Geonames or on any of the maps I checked. On a whim, I did an internet search. I found this image a few times, but
one of them had this explanation:
An engraving of a view over Papenburg Island (Takaboko-shima) and the Bay of Nagasaki, Japan. From “The Sunday at Home: A Family Magazine for Sabbath Reading, 1888”. Published in London by the Religious Tract Society.
Think it's very cool that a religious tract from 1888 can be found on the internet. Would that kind of search and find have been remotely possible 50 years ago? Notice, Papenberg (Ashuelot) Papenburg (explanation) Pappenberg (image title) and Papenburg (also Ashuelot).

All places added to db, will appear on reference soon!
Thanks everyone!
About Cape Sagami, the archive.org descriptive reference is a far better one than any map, i've added the missing Matsuwa-saki and moved the alias Cape Sagami to that place.
Unfortunately we've no decently detailed maps...
this one or
this one from 1929 (with Tsurugi Saki known as Kenga Saki) apparently shows Matsuwa as being the big area between Ame Saki/Zaki and Tsurugi Saki... i'm pretty convinced when the logkeeper wrote "Cape Sagami" he was addressing Tsurugi Saki and, most important, its light (which is located not far from it), but i decided anyway to move the alias.
For geonames, yep i'm usually adjusting positions and adding aliases, didn't know that modifications took one month to get published on their db, but it makes sense. The 20/05 addition of Cape Sagami must have been after Michael sent me some places to add... i'm working on editing Unalga at the moment and i'm cruising deep in Alaska, pretty far from Japan

All added to db, thanks Randi!
The Pearl and Hermes Reef is also Pearl and Hermes Atoll, it's named reef in most older maps:
https://www.historicalcharts.noaa.gov/i ... 175-2-1947
I've merged everything comprising the aliases you mentioned
