Passed through quantities of yellowish + brownish material, having the appearance of dust, lying in streaks, in and upon the water.

At 11:40 PM, observed a brilliant meteor passing from east to west over an arc of about 90^o.

At 1030 PM observed a very bright meteor, its bearing about NW. It commenced about 30^o above the horizon and pursued a westerly course at angle of 20^o with the horizon, and disappeared about 5^o above the horizon. When first seen, its color was purple, rapidly changing to green and white.

Between 11 and 11:30 o'clock, the wind moderated considerably, the water changed from a blue to light green in color, and in temperature fell from 73^o to 66^o with moderate sea; at the same time there was a corresponding fall of wet and dry bulb thermometers.

About 11:35 PM a very brilliant meteor passed through the zenith from South to North and burst with a perceptible noise.

From 8 to midnight. Noticed a brilliant meteor to the Nd & Ed.

Saw a bright Meteor in the Northern heavens.

Observed well nigh total eclipse of the sun commencing about 1:30 PM and ending at 3:45 PM L.M.T.

At 8.44. a partial Eclipse of the moon commenced. Middle of Eclipse 10.18. Ended at 11.51
