Well, nobody else is having a guess so I will: Townsville.
The interesting 'island that attracts many visitors' could be Magnetic Island.
There are record-holding Texas Longhorns nearby, the city has lots of sunshine, and there is an international airport.
Is that enough? ;)

Not to shabby Caro.
The airport is an Local, International and ? airport.
Not a usual combination.

Could you be alluding to the fact that it is both a commercial and a defense airport. Not the usual combination. (I was going to guess "Gold Coast" Lot of nice islands but didn't see the horse and buggy.)

You got it, Morgan.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Townsville_Airport wrote:Townsville Airport is a common-use civilian and defence facility, sharing access with RAAF Base Townsville. It is used as a staging point for Australian Defence Force (ADF) operations within Australia and internationally. The aerodrome has also been used for co-ordination of relief efforts following Tropical Cyclones and other natural disasters, notably Cyclone Larry in 2006.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service has one of its nine Queensland bases at Townsville Airport.

A couple of pics from last two locations.

The sweet little town nearest to my current location is arguably the wettest town in Australia.
The rainfall over one year was said to have been able to reach the top of the gumboot.
The show was on that day and I saw that guy. Where is it?

My next mission (should I choose to accept it) is to find the owner of the bikini.
I accepted the mission and went further down the road to the beach. No sign of the owner.
Neither could I find her in the caravan park. Where is it?

And, um, Mission Beach? 🌴

Jil and Caro both correct. (It's actually South Mission beach but Mission Beach but I could not think of a clue for that)

Why did I call Tully a sweet town?

Hi, I'm back. :D :kangaroo:

Unfortunatly most of my good pictures from a short train trip I took yesterday are on my Nikon and my computer refuses to read the SD card.
Will go out with the Phone on the next 4 day train trip.

You all know Australia is home to most of the worlds most deadly snakes, well this City claimes to be home to the world’s most dangerous ratite.
(What is it?)

It has a twin city in Latvia. (Which City?)

I do not have a mouth and after being born, I just do out looking for mate. My name gives the impression I may be strong.
The biggest one found was 36 cm wide. (What am I?)

Next week at one of the stops on our 4 day train trip I will be entering the largest one of these in the world. (What is it?)

The world longest one day mail run starts from here (The run takes 9 hours, making 10 stops between the two locations and is 1450km each way)

Where am I?

(Dept for a week at the next stop on the 16 Aug)

The twin city is Riga, but I'm not sure if you wanted it, Cairns or both.
