First frost of the winter this morning. I haven't checked any records but it feels very late in the year, usually get a few in October.

We had a couple of white speckles on the grass last month but up North as you might say last night we had white roofs and hoar frost on the leaves and branches. On a personal level I don't miss frosts although it's nice to see them from inside a warm room or vehicle. In the Arctic I approve of frosts, I'd just prefer not to worry about slipping if I go to the recycling bins or bird feeders.

We briefly had a few tiny white specks coming down a few days ago and again last night, but they disappeared as soon as they touched the ground.

The first frost here was a few nights ago, much later than usual. The first frost usually comes late October. One of the plants in my backyard that usually blooms in Spring just bloomed again.

I'm worrying about those of you in the UK and BC; I hear "Red" warnings are out. Am I doing one of those "these are large disparate areas an outsider squeezes together" things? I had heard of snow in "Southern UK."

The UK had
Storm Arwen last night and into this morning and there was a red weather warning for wind along the NE coast of England and SE coast of Scotland with some areas getting gusts up to 98mph. I'm over near the west coast so we only had a yellow warning. There has also been snow in some areas but I've also missed that but it has been very cold as the wind was from the north. Its been 3 or 4C during the day with the wind chill making it feel like -3 or -4C.

There is a gale warning for Puget Sound and a flood watch. I'm on high ground. So flooding is not an issue here, although streets a few blocks downhill tend to flood. I'm a bit inland where winds are usually not so strong, unless they come in at just the right angle so that they blow up the valley.

We had 5 cm of snow in the southeast of The Netherlands yesterday.
Rather unusual this early in the season, it isn't winter yet.
Global warming, hey?

Snowing here now. Not heavily, but it's only 1C so it may stick.

We had a 'skittering' of snow last night. In the direct sunlight it has melted but in the shadows it is still there. Nice bright day but COLD for the time of year - maybe it's the Gulf Stream affected by global warming
