I think you're right. It was a new log keeper that day and he may have started entering the PM data on the wrong row. However, it's not my place to guess what was intended, but rather to just type what I see.
The next day is okay. Must've just been a first day mistake. I hope they keep this log keeper for a while. His handwriting is so easy to read.

Antonio Fernandez (Lds.) a small pox patient was transferred to the hospital on shore immediately
after the discovery of the disease. Threw overboard the following articles belonging to
Antonio Fernandez, viz; one (1) mattress, two (2) pillows, one (1) pair sheets, one (1) pillow case
and one (1) pair of blankets -- to prevent the spread of the disease.

The log keeper did it again. There is an extra row of data above the 1 PM row. As before, I combined that row and 1 PM row on the 1 PM row and added a transcriber comment.
I won't make any more entries here if it continues to occur, but will continue combining the rows and making transcriber comments in the transcription.

OK. I had some other log keeper who kept doing that same thing every few days. Sometimes there would be a blank line farther down the table.

July 31 at Southampton, England
4 PM
The Prince and Princess of Wales arrived in the Royal Yacht and were received on board the "Brooklyn".
Manned yards and fired a salute with the fleet - Afterwards the Prince & Princess visited the "Wabash" -
Manned yards - Again manned yards and fired a salute with the fleet upon the Prince and Princess
embarking on board the Royal Yacht - During the visit the ship was dressed with Am. Ensign at fore & mizzen
and English Ensign at the main.

On the morning of August 9 the fleet got underway from Cowes, England, near Southampton.
10:15 the Flagship ran aground.
11:10 this ship dropped anchor astern of the flagship in order to help her off and received hawser from her but at 11:20 She floated off with the tide.

There has been no mention in the log as to which ship is the Flagship.

There have been several deserters at various European locations, but increased since arriving at the English ports.

For some reason there is no mention of a gun salute. Seems odd with all the salutes that have occured up to this point.

Received a visit from Rear Admiral ------------------------ with rank of Brig. Gen, in return for visit of
Captain Wells received with proper honors and on his leaving the ship, a salute in his honor was
fired of (13) guns, with French flag at the Fore and Jib hoisted. The salute was returned gun for gun
by the French flagship.

Looks like they didn't know the French Admiral's name. The log just has a long line drawn in place of a name.

Following a long stay at Havre, France, where maintenance was done on the condenser over several days, the ship ended the month at Brest.
