Feeling quite spring-like today - 10C at lunchtime and the nasty wind-chill has gone.

Weather's getting better here too - still hovering around 0 C today, but it's supposed to go up a bit each day until it hits 13 C on the weekend!

Note: If you get any sort of pull-on spikes/chains, be sure that front part of the foot has good traction for the push off
What form of Yaktrax do you have Randi, please?, I've got steel coils at the front, and crampon spikes at the back. I have crampon fitments for my crutches too

Ah, one of the tricks I have developed is the 'penguin waddle'.
Make sure to avoid their other favourite mode of transport...unless you have a hot water-bottle tucked in your jumper

They are called "Run." They have steel coils at the back and crampon spikes at the front.

We're up to 3.6C with very light rain. Our snow of the ground measured 19 cm on the 13
th, 27 cm on the 14
th and 17 cm this morning. Now we just wait for the melt. The long term forecast has 50 mm of rain for us over the next ten days with a high of 11C for Sunday.

That looks pretty cold Randi.
Watched the weather on CNN and was horrified by how bad it is. The electric outages sound like no fun at all

The snow and cold weather has ended here in the Seattle area. The temperature rose and there was heavy rain most of the day yesterday. So only patches of snow remain. The coming week is forecast to be fairly normal here with highs around 8 C and lows around 3 C and rain off and on; perfect weather for getting back outdoors again.

Our snow depth is down to 11 cm. We're cloudy, but expected to clear in the next two or three hours, getting up to about 8-10C depending won which computer model you choose. Right now it's plus 6. If I remember, when you have enough snow on the ground, 7C is usually about as mild as it gets, barring strong winds blowing in warm air. I guess we'll see.

It was supposed to snow during the afternoon and evening, but it didn't. So they changed the forecast to no snow.
Guess what
It still says no snow.

Are they checking the wind direction by licking their finger and holding it up over their heads?

We had 0.4 " ( 1 cm) rain overnight. May get a little more. Every little bit helps. Met with old water resource colleagues today (Zooming.) Despite well below normal runoff expectations in the coming season, no one is too concerned- water demand is low. WE ARE CONSERVING.

I've now got to the age where snow is best admired through double glazing in a warm room!!
It is beautiful though.
