A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
There are two ways of exerting one's strength: one is pushing down, the other is pulling up.

Did you feel the earthquake up there, Randi? I heard some people felt it in Pennsylvania.

Is anyone in the US going to get a good view of the solar eclipse? In the UK I'm far enough west that I would get a few minutes of a partial eclipse just before sunset, except it looks like its going to be overcast then (as usual when anything interesting is happening in the sky!)

We're supposed to have a partial eclipse of 97%, but cloud coverage for that period is supposed to be 60 to 80 percent.
I don't mind because I wasn't planning on viewing it (I need my eyes for the logs), but I am sorry for those who do want to see it.

We won't get a totality here, but I have an aunt in the West Lafayette area of Indiana who was freaking out over the weekend because her town is overwhelmed. There's Purdue and Notre Dame events going on, there's a high school thing happening, there's a basketball tournament, AND there's a ton of eclipse tourists. She tried to get takeout over the weekend and all the food places were so overwhelmed they couldn't take her order. And the grocery stores were near wiped!

Happy Birthday and a prosperous "New Year", HNArtisan. Who could miss with that cake and teapot.

We could just notice the eclipse. Really nice to have something else dominate the news!

Would one be right in saying the eclipse should Trump the other news?
