I was away visiting the youngest generation. Her 2nd birthday. Sorry I missed yours April. A good book is a gift and the new library system make it easy to read.

As far as texting and driving, I worked with a fellow who did not speak - we could all sign enough to make it work. Following him out of the parking lot one evening, he was stopped at the corner, waiting for it to clear, signing away to himself!

Might get a bit of rain out of this lot.

We slipped right through the gap. 0.2mm rain.

While editing "Pioneer" she encountered the USCGS Bear. Now I knew about Bear's part in the rescue of the remnants of the Greely expedition in 1884 but her later career was unknown to me. However, a search turned up this link which gives a summary of her full career which lasted as an active ship until 1944. She finally sank, under tow in 1963, on her way to Philadelphia to become a museum & restaurant.

NOAA and USCG are reasonably certain they have identified the wreck site of the Bear

Thanks for that. May she rest in peace since they are unlikely to find any significant items in the wreck. She was under tow and scheduled for redevelopment so significant items would have been removed and sent down over land if they planned to put them back on board. It's nice to know where she is though.

Is there no end to these "special days" ?
Today I cannot seem to find an end to the August Ferdinand Möbius, (born November 17, 1790,) story.

Found this speech by David Rumsey on historical maps that some may be interesting.

Warning, it's a long talk. I think there could have been a bit of Second world avatar work could have been deleted.

I wonder if Rumsey would be interested in Michaels voyage plots?

Oh, No, This is yet another rabbit hole. I will spend a lot of time looking at his library.
I "saved" a varnished linen map of Los Angeles County dated about 1918. Its about 4 feet by 10 feet.
We also had an atlas that showed land use for insurance purposes. It shows warehouses, stacks of hay and straw, boilers, blacksmiths, housing and water system about 1886. I would hate to see them lost- I will see if I can link them with this gentleman.

A gif showing how the Rozelle Interchange fits together(GIPHY). It is animated in the ABC link below.

Now, was that a left turn or a right at the next junction we just passed? :? :? :?
