The Needles on the IoW. 👍

1July will be about Portsmouth dock and its vessel's.

1. Who granted Portsmouth a Royal Charter to construct a dockyard. And in what year.

2. The keel of which famous ship was laid here in 1510?

3. Which mill on this site at its peak turned out 130,000 pulley blocks annually?

4. Which ship was completed in the astonishing time of 366 days?

5. Which Vice Admiral fell on his ship on the 21st Oct 1805.
5a. Name the ship he fell on.
Fact, about 6000 trees were cut down to build it and it is currently undergoing a major restoration.

6. Which vessel was built in 1510, sank in 1545 and was raised in 1982?

7. In 1860 this vessel was the fastest, largest and most powerful warship in the world. It was the first warship to have washing machines.
Name please.

8. How many weeks was the HMS M.33 built in?

All for now.
Don't expect much for a week or so I have to fly back to Oz sooner than I had origionally booked. 😒

5. Horatio Nelson and HMS Victory. When we did the tour (even more years ago than the holiday to the Isle of Wight) there was a raised plaque to mark the spot where he fell and the guide made the joke that he wasn't surprised Nelson fell there as it was very easy to trip over.

I think you have it all up to now.
Probably no more quiz questions.
I have added a few stops to Polarsteps. Will fill in later.

Thanks for the tour, Stuart. Great photos. I like tours I can take while sitting at my desk. :D :D :D

Maybe the people on the forum could suggest other places they'd like you to visit, and you could go there and take photos and give us more quiz questions etc.

The photos are great, Stuart! It is nice to see photos that individuals take rather than staged shots that have no real feeling behind them. Thanks for sharing!.

New trip.
This trip has a number of small town stops.
I will do my best to find something about them.

Our first 2 night stop is in a small town with a pop of about 255 is known by an aboriginal word meaning "Valley of the crows"
The pub is quite old, (and expensive)

Town and pub please.

(It also has an EV charger.)
