Instructions for logs with two days on one image.

Several of the very old logs have weather grids for two days on a single image. These logs have to be processed in a slightly different way.

This is handled by making Column B very wide when it’s time to enter data for the second day. The process for the transcriber is very similar
to working with one day per image:
  • enter the data;
  • verify, save and clear the data; and,
  • get the next image.
You can, of course, use the hot key Alt-U, to perform all those tasks. Because the navigation keys are linked to the cells in the weather grid, they should work as expected.

For the case with two days per image, the Update macro processes the data for the first day (left-hand grid) but, instead of getting a new image, it makes Column B very wide so that the data for the second day lines up with the right-hand grid. When the data for the second day has been done, the Update macro gets a new image and makes Column B the proper width for entering the data in the left-hand grid.

When you adjust the grid, the width for Column B is saved for the left and for the right hand grids depending on which day you’re working on.
The macro that resizes Column B, uses these saved values to reposition the grid, so the grid should line up properly.

The Log|Events button has been replaced with a Wx Grid button. You can use this button to switch the display to show one grid or the other.

Some of the images have the grid very close to the left hand side of the image. In this case you should turn on the Crop Image option and enter a negative value for the Crop Left value.

Because of the differences in monitor screen size, graphic cards, pixel sizes and densities, you may have to to a lot of adjusting to get the right hand grid lined up. When lining up the grids, you should adjust the width of Column B. That's because the macros that switch between the left and right hand grids do so by adjusting the width of Column B.
