Seems to be back now - tried looking at some Manning pages, and going to the main page of the site, no problems.

Anybody been having problems with GeoNames lately?
When I go in from Place Names reference (Matteos site it works.)
Next place I look for from the Geonames search page it does not do anything. Does not even go looking, the places I am looking for are within the visible page map (somewhere).

PC rebooted to clear all caches etc, Modem rebooted.

TIA

It did it a few times for me yesterday but often if I closed it and went back it worked. FRUSTRATING :!: :!: :!: Mapcarta is now a travel sale site. I've virtually given up on it because it loads my computer with so much garbage and OVER RIDES privacy settings I've turned to private so I have to go through them again. The internet community is definitely taking advantage of COVID by monetising everything big time.

Retrieving log pages from the OW link is not working. Went down last night and still down this morning. Fortunately can get the US log pages on the National Archive link but it is less convenient to work with although it's good for checking hard to read names and technical terms.

I assume you're trying to view Jamestown pages?
I did some random tests and they work fine for me.
E.g. http://oldweather.s3.amazonaws.com/ow3/ ... _139_0.jpg

Yorktown isn't giving me problems either.

Got a message 'Server not found' on a couple of pages. However, I've jumped to some later dates and its OK, so somewhere the address must have got corrupted. I'll try to fix it, or at least highlight it for the team who put the finished log on line. Thanks.

Hi folks, this made my eyes pop out on stalks :o

I clicked the link in this message: viewtopic.php?p=1162#p1162 and then clicked on the link quoted by Randi in the message below and got a peculiar format for the old site
Any thoughts? Or is it just me please?

That is correct ;)
It is a local copy of what is in the old forum - just in case the old forum becomes inaccessible.
For the moment, it is still available in the old forum: https://forum.oldweather.org/index.php?topic=3538.0

Since the latest update of Windows 10 has anybody else lost the consistent default opening app for editing the Libra .XML file?

I was set up for Notepad. Now even if I click the 'Always use this app to open' sometimes it opens in Wordpad, sometimes Notepad sometimes the what do you want to open it with message.

Very annoying.
