Thanks for sorting all that out. Really appreciate your assistance even if I don't quite follow everything your just did! :?

I'll just keep blindly transcribing as before and let you know if anything else doesn't line up. Onwards.

I was just looking over some of the XML files that I uploaded for Lackawanna 1873 March and I think that there's a problem with them. The Event info that I entered on the righthand side of the image doesn't appear to have been saved. This includes any coarse corrections and anchor locations that I entered and saved. If that's the case, and I'm reading the files correctly, I may have to go back and enter that info. Any ideas why that Event info didn't get saved when all the other info did? I had entered the info within the blue box on the right side of the image.

I will send you a PM so we don't clutter up this topic.

I just want to confirm that I'm reading this correctly. This is from the Lackawanna 4/12/1873. 7:20 PM "Sighted land all along Starboard bow + abeam, bering the coast of 'Formosa'." Is this basically saying: Formosa ats?

I don't see any mention of Formosa on the page for April 12:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorag ... 13-196.JPG

However, if I understand the situation correctly, you can indeed transcribe "Sighted land all along Starboard bow + abeam, bering the coast of 'Formosa'" as Formosa ats.

August 1873 complete. Reserve Sept 1873 for me. Just finished a short trip to Russian Tartary (Siberia) and now on to Japan. Lots of travel in 1873.

Will do. It's amazing they had enough hands to do all the work. A whole bunch of the crew seemed to be in solitary, in double irons, and on bread-water every day except Wed and Sunday after being court martially.
