We don't get as much as we used to either, and lately it has tended to be dry snow.

It was beautiful as I looked at it from inside!

It's a bit wet out, and with temperatures around 2 deg C, we have silly big white rain drops mixed in with the ordinary kind. Nothing much is sticking to the ground, but there is some on cold vehicles and fences...

Summary: 12 24 Hrs
Maximum: 6.3 9.8 deg C
Minimum: 0.9 0.9 deg C
Precip: 65.8 67.8 mm
Max Wind: 14 14 kmh

It's a little milder, but windier this side of the Sound. First snow of the year, just a little mixed with rain and sticking to the top of cars beginning about 8 PM. Temperature has dropped to 2.1 deg C at 8 PM. The peak wind gust earlier this afternoon was 34.3 km/h. That was accompanied by heavy rain and rapid temperature drop. It looks like the clouds will be clearing out before chance of any real snowfall, but it's going to turn very cold tonight. Roads will likely be covered with black ice after having rained all day.

Yesterday we had 74.9 mm of precipitation. Almost all of it was rain, although it was mixed with some snow. The previous one day December record for precipitation was 57.6 mm set on December 12, 2010. The previous record for December 21 was a puny 8.0 mm. We beat that in one hour because at 11 AM yesterday we had 8.6 mm. 90,000 people lost power and 15,000 people on Vancouver Island are without power. We had a couple of flickers on our lights, but otherwise we had no power problems. As you can see, we might be spending the rest of the day digging ourselves out of the house.

That's a lot of rain!

Unless you have studded snow tires, you better stay home until the snow plow has passed ;)

Today's weather in Leipzig was as high as 14C - definitely NOT normal for December in central Europe!

Not sure about a snow plough Michael ;) but you sure need to think about getting a canoe :D

Chris - keep your shorts and t-shirts handy! :o

Here it is warm (14C) and dreary and drizzling and the ground is sodden. I went out to feed the hedgies and my crutch sank 1 inch into the grass. It's grey, grey, grey. Yawn.

The US National Weather Service issued a Falling Iguana alert for Miami. Yes, the sometimes large, cold- blooded reptiles live in trees; When they get cold, they loose their grip and fall- stunned by alive.

We traded your minus for a plus. 6.4C here with rain forecast for later today, tonight and Saturday. No snow anywhere in sight, except one pancake sized piece on the lawn of the neighbour across the street.
