Lancashire Wildlife Trust have several projects to maintain and restore the lowland peat bogs in the region including creating a 'Carbon Farm' - taking over fields adjacent to remaining peat bog and replanting with sphagnum moss.

I was looking to see if I could get a position for the Columbia River Bar, and I found this. Seven and a half minutes to test your sea legs and see just how good they are:

I've not been in more than a 6.5 M, but the thing you know about an earthquake is, it is not going to last too long. Those waves went on and on! I was sure the one fellow was a goner in the first 20 seconds.

I suspect these fishing boats work out of Astoria, so they would be quite used to sailing these waters, and they know just how to get through these waves. I suspect that they would also sit offshore and wait for a tide change if things were really bad. Mind you, it is one wild ride.

So much doom and gloom around. This gave me such a chuckle...the UK changed back from British Summer Time to Greenwich Mean Time on Saturday/Sunday.

As I recall, someone in the group is a penguin enthusiast. You probably already know all about this; but in case not:
Drama at the zoo: Egg-napping male penguin couple steals the nest of a female penguin couple

You have to watch out for those dominant penguin couples.

You'll have to re-frame your ice research from climate change to opening the Arctic Ocean for oil exploration.
