Transcriber Weather

I've never thought about barometric pressure effecting the flavor of tea before. You learn something new every day!

Re: Transcriber Weather
There is a charity bowling competition on in our village being held this morning.
Rain is forecast and we have 10/10 nimb clouds.
Fortunately the rain held off for 1 1/2 hrs till Ian Moss' s song "Mr Rain" started playing on my computer and it was followed up with Lynn Andersons Rose garden with the lines
"Along with the sunshine
There's gotta be a little rain some time"
After that song finished the rain stopped. (for 10 min) but it looks like it is back and set in for the day.
Recently we finally had rain after a long dry spell the green was flooded for about a week after the rain stopped.
Just been out for a look at the green and it flooded again. Water only went down a couple of days ago. Looks like the problem is major.
Local rain monitor has not picked up the rainfall between 10 and 1030.
Yes, that's a lake on the green. Pic taken at 1033

Whilst not looking forward to the predicted weather we need rain.
Also I like the way the ABC explains complicated things in simple terms.

Mind you, I think we're going to see an end in the Carbon Tax in Canada in the next few months. The way politicians are pandering to The People and the fossil fuel industries, we might soon be paid to burn fuel oil etc. (As well as a move to scrap the Carbon tax, they're making noise about taxing the Goods and Services Tax, GST, off heating oil.)
Off course, we can't make the Oil Sands companies pay, either. It's not fair...
Re: Transcriber Weather
Very changeable weather recently. Saturday we had our first frost of the winter and a lovely crisp sunny day. Sunday also started frosty but quickly clouded over and was cold, damp and rainy. Today we've got storm Debi with an amber warning for wind - up to 80mph gusts on the coast, 60mph around here.

Re: Transcriber Weather
Nice steady drizzle over the last 12 hrs 9.8mm.
Good soaking rain.
I hope it clears up by Saturday as I am going to the Newcastle air show.

Re: Transcriber Weather
We had a bit of snow yesterday although it melted as soon as it hit the ground.
Today we had a bit more snow, but despite below freezing temperatures all day it quickly disappeared.

Re: Transcriber Weather
Those are the days to be careful of black ice. Be safe out there.
Re: Transcriber Weather
YES....
That is how I broke my wrist a few years ago.
It was February and there was just a tiny bit of snow coming down when I went out in the late afternoon, so I didn't worry about it.
The snow melted fairly quickly, but then when it cooled off in the early evening it froze into a thin layer of very slippery ice.

Re: Transcriber Weather
Had several days of frosty and sunny weather here. -3/-4C overnight and +1/+2C max in the day. Luckily the day before it started we managed to NOT have any rain so not much ice about. I can also walk across the local fields without sinking ankle deep into the mud!

Re: Transcriber Weather
First snow of year yesterday. We only had a couple of inches but a bit further south they in Cumbria they had blocked roads (including the motorway) and chaos reigned. The problem seems to be that a lot of the HGV drivers haven't mastered driving in snow and jack-knife their lorries, blocking the road until breakdown vehicles can work their way in. Thawing now though so just hope the roads are cleared before the next frost.
Re: Transcriber Weather
It stayed above freezing last night so the pretty frost has gone. A few icy patches, I think it rained a bit overnight. Depending on which weather forecast you look at there might be sleet overnight or ice in the morning.
A couple of my friends are in Coniston (in Cumbria) for the weekend, they drove up before the weather turned nasty and are now snowed in at a pub so not doing too bad!

Snowed in at a pub in Coniston, that sounds like the making of a movie. But is it a romance or a mystery?
