Re: Where is Pommystuart?
Correct on both accounts Caro.
We have GeoMagnetic (for ships compasses) , but are still missing one observatory which provides information ships may need to know.

Re: Where is Pommystuart?
Where we are now in a rural town which has a veeerrry large painting (one of a concept to erect 7 in the world)
The painting is predominantly in a different colour to the colour of this rural town.
(The missing observatory was the seismic one, also on Tower Hill, Charters Towers.)
On the outward journey (going North) it stopped raining (for us) at the Tropic of Capricorn.
On the return journey is started raining as we again passed the tropic of Capricorn.

Re: Where is Pommystuart?
Hi all.
Sorry, I have not been taking any photos at the last two stop. We have been their before so just used them as rest days. I did pan gold at Charters towers and found a small nugget (worth about AU$30)
We are camping at a Gun Club and last night I had my second only go with a 12 guage. Only hit 1 out of 10 clay pigeons.
This town was the site for Australias first oil and gas discoveries. Now, most of that goes overseas and we pay a fortune to use it locally.
I need a WIFI connection to upload from my phone, Mobile data will not work.

Re: Where is Pommystuart?
Hope your shoulder is OK after the shooting party. With the price of gold these days, I hope your nugget is big enough to make a nice little keepsake.
Bon Voyage

Thanks Morgan.
The gun had suprisingly little recoil and I was told they were full load cartridges.

Re: Where is Pommystuart?
Hi Jil.
Correct.
Not a lot to photograph here.
Roma is just a big rural town which supports the rural, gas and oil business's, Google will tell you more.
Had our first heavy downpour last night since we left on the 28th June. 1330hrs to 0300hrs was 51.4mm.
Next stop tomorrow, has the name of a flag flown by ships entering the Mediterranean to benefit from the protection of the Genoese fleet.
Who can tell me how many Football clubs (and their names) have this flag as part of their club badge

The flag of Genoa is a St. George's Cross, a red cross on a white field.

Re: Where is Pommystuart?
The St George flag was flown by the English ships.
It is now part of the Union Jack.

Thanks. Looks like you do not need to download the app.
If you click on the main picture then you should be able to see the journed stop by stop.
Still missing the answers to this part of the quiz.

Re: Where is Pommystuart?
Thanks Morgan.
I only found out about that App when I was at Mission Beach.
Still some pics to add from my camera, but not many.
I use Snipping Tool (on a PC) to take screen shots, then send it up to Imgur and post the link from there.
One thing I did find about the app it is best to take one pic within the app to get a location, then take the rest with your phone or camera as normal and add them to the app.
If you take all your pics through the app then you do not have a copy of the pics on your phone. You can download them from Polarsteps but they do not have the origional pic details. Still a good app and if you have the money they create a travel book of the journey.
Yes we will be home in less than 2 weeks.
