Have a good christmas folks. Chilly and wet here in Scotland but met some friends at Church this morning, so now planning my solo meals for the rest of the day.

The last reindeer took me a bit but not as much as the last Mrs. Claus.
Earlier my link for the Gingerbread men didn't work, but now the one from Reindeer games works. There are 50, but it was not as hard as the others.

In honour of the circumstances, I chose a Blue font. :roll:
And, as a Christmas present for you, I give you this Christmas Story. 41 years ago, on Christmas Eve, Alan Maitland, a CBC announcer read this story, and every Christmas Eve since CBC has re-broadcast it. I might not have heard it every Christmas Eve for the last 41 years, but I haven't missed many, if any at all.

One of these evenings, when it's warm inside and dark outside, have a listen.

My young friend Katie referred me to an amusing story from Sweden to do with a Christmas Goat which has had a tragi-comic history. It's made of straw. It is cold in Sweden during Yule. Straw makes a good fire.
Here it is in its 2009 splendour :D

Anyone know the location of the house on the beach near Ediz Hook? How about the lighted sign at Port Madison?

Inquiring navigator needs to know... :lol: :lol: :lol:

Northwind had anchored bearings refer to a patch of snow (Brg patch of snow xxxT)

I looked for the patch of snow on a recent sat photo, but it must have melted... :roll:

Nope, other side of the water, i.e. south and farther to the east. :lol:

I did find the Washington Pulp Mill Smokestack though it took some time. I had to trace the history of the Washington Pulp Mill which was sold to Crown Zellerback which was sold to Nippon Paper and which was sold to McKinley. Once I got an address, I could use the i-boating: Free Marine Navigation Charts website. With the right background map, I even found the smokestack!!!

First I had to sort out whether or not the Rayonier Mill started out as the Washington Pulp, which it didn't, so I am now well versed in the history of Port Angeles pulp mills. The Rayonier Mill is the first one that comes up in a Google Search because it closed a number of years ago and it left behind a highly contaminated site, so there are many articles about it.

Impressive search Michael :D What frustrates me, at times, is that you could probably pop into the local grocery store and bump into someone who knows all the histories way back and that would be 'all sorted' in the shake of a hand ;) :lol:
