The Yukon had some really wonderful outdoor ed classes. My other son was in the "ACES" program, but I forget what it stood for, maybe Art, Culture, Environment and Science. They did lots of outdoor things, culminating in a one or two week canoe trip down the Macmillan River to the Pelly and then down the Pelly to Pelly Crossing, where it joins the Yukon River. On the trip they shot a moose, and they learned the First Nations' method for cleaning, skinning, dressing it etc. The took the moose meat with them, and had a potlatch with the Pelly-Carmacks First Nation when they got to Pelly Crossing. Those sorts of programs really built confidence as well as teaching valuable survival skills. They were also immersed in First Nations culture and teachings, which is really necessary to build understanding and breakdown stereotypes.

Thanks, good article.
To solve the water bottle problem- drink tap water from a nice glass. Best thing since---- well before sliced bread.

I am getting a little transcribing done, but I have been checking out other pages as well; which brought me to the entry for the HMS Foxglove on this day in 1923. Due to a reading disability, (which slows down transcribing) I read phonetically which provides me rich pictures of all I take in. SO you might imagine what I saw in my mind's eye when I read this:
Obe Wan to Kobe
.
Obe Wan (34 degrees 6 min N, 132 degrees 54 min E) to Kobe (34 degrees 42 min, 135 degrees 12 min)

I am not a great Star Wars follower, but I can't help it;
May the Force be with you.

Stuart: Can you tell us if Australians call the rest of the world "Up-Over"? ;) :kangaroo:

Very nice - thanks for posting!
I like how the grocery store owner doesn't understand it, but doesn't care because it saves him money - always good to benefit everyone!
