The Lackawanna log book stated that there was a total eclipse of the moon sometime between 4 and 8 PM on October 25th, 1874. The Lackawanna was anchored off Yokohama Japan.

First time I have heard of the Zodiacal light(s)
The zodiacal light is a faint, triangular glow in the night sky that's caused by sunlight scattered by interplanetary dust:
