Re: Transcriber Weather
I have not looked too far into solar power because we use little and have a low bill. I was waiting for more efficient and cost effective systems. We got a mailer that said, for the month of August, we used less than "efficient" homes in our neighborhood. The Electric Co representative could not seem to understand when I asked if those efficient houses had solar. Electrical rates are going up, and I fully believe in paying my share of the distribution system; but this is getting enticing. Not that I need another project. We would have broke even with Stuart's system. Makes me think.
Oh, and I also got a mailer asking if I had interest in a commercial windmill on farmland we own in the Midwest. I'm trying to do my part----- if it makes sense.

Re: Transcriber Weather
RAIN. Well, not a measurable amount, but still enough to deter laundry on the line.

Re: Transcriber Weather
We're about 16 hours into a Pacific Bomb Cyclone. The biggest winds so far: Solander Island 116 kmh and Race Rocks 107 kmh. At our house, maximum wind just 55 kmh. What a difference location makes: Race Rocks is only 10.8 nautical miles from our house. Here are the current power outages:
Here is the surface map for 5 AM our time (one hour ago):
Fortunately, the centre of the low is well off the coast. It will be a windy walk to the gym this morning.

Re: Transcriber Weather
A tad nippy and breezy I guess.
Re: Transcriber Weather
The storm wasn't quite as strong down here in the Seattle area, but still significant damage. The peak gust at my house was 46 kmh. However, I'm only a short distance up from the valley floor. Winds were much stronger at the higher elevations. Almost the entire county is still without power. Lights just flickered a lot here, but never lost power for more than a few seconds at a time. The power outages began just a few blocks above my house. Crews are coming in from all over the country, and even Canada, to help restore power here. Several main highways are closed because of downed power lines and trees.
