Attention all hands
Re: Attention all hands
I'm on the same version as Stuart and don't see it either. So it must have just been implemented in the latest version.
Re: Attention all hands
The Cell Focus option is part way down the Application Color section.
Re: Attention all hands
On version 24.2.5.2 on Linux I have the Grid lines and Page breaks settings, but no Cell Focus between them.

Re: Attention all hands
Somewhere in the past I think I remember something from Michael about reverse colours coming up. It changed my screen grid, but I have no idea now what I did.
Re: Attention all hands
Version 3_5h of the spreadsheets has been released.
New Features
Some minor updates have been made. Some of these were made to account for changes in LibreOffice 24.8.2 and some were made for issues with ship logs from the early 1860s, which have quite a different format from later logs.
The Version 3_5h spreadsheets have been uploaded to their usual places. Feel free to download them at a time that is convenient for you, but there is no need to do so immediately unless you have upgraded LibreCalc to Version 24.8 or greater. If you are running LibreCalc 24.8 or later, you must update your spreadsheet.
If you are happy with the way your spreadsheets are working and you have not updated LibreOffice to the most recent version, there's no need to download this version.
In order to make use of the new soft-keys, you need to download Shortcuts_v3_5h_Win.cfg. You import the new soft-keys into your spreadsheet by going to Tools/Customize/Keyboard and clicking the Load button. You then select the downloaded shortcuts file. The shortcut configuration file is in the same Google Directory as your spreadsheets.
New Features
- Versions of LibreOffice 24.8 now allow us more flexibility with colour choices which can make working with the logs easier. Specifically, you can go to: Tools/Options/Application Colours/Spreadsheet Cell Focus and choose a colour for the border around your active cell. The default version was a light blue, and you could not change it. We requested that change, and the LibreOffice developers added it for us. Personally, I find Yellow stands out very well, but other people might be happy with the light blue, or they might wish to try other colours;
- A yellow font does not show up against a white background, which is the default colour of the cell background when you are entering data in a cell. You can change this colour with: Tools/Options/Application Colors/Document Background. As well as changing the background colour of the cell when you’re entering data, it also changes the colour of the other sheets, like the Setup Sheet etc. In order to make changes to the Document Background Color more easily, there is a new macro and a soft-key Alt+G which brings up an input box with some standard colours, as well as one custom colour. There are three new lines on the Setup Sheet which allow you to set the Red, Green and Blue values for a Document Background Color that works best for you. The default values are 255 which produces white;
- You can see more about colours here;
- Three new soft-keys, Ctrl++, Ctrl+= and Ctrl+- have been added to activate a Zoom In or Zoom Out. Gordon suggested these changes, which are standard soft-keys for zooming in and out on most browsers and other applications.
Some minor updates have been made. Some of these were made to account for changes in LibreOffice 24.8.2 and some were made for issues with ship logs from the early 1860s, which have quite a different format from later logs.
- We allow a wind direction of Baffling (you can enter a v or baf for a baffling);
- The Help Sheet has been updated to include lines for the new soft-keys. In addition, we have changed the soft-key notation so that we use a + sign instead of – sign, so Alt-G is now shown as Alt+G. This confirms to the more common usage;
- The limits for verifying hourly pressure changes have been modified slightly;
- There is a new macro to jump to the last cell where you made an entry. This is handy for logs from the early 1860s. The soft-key for this macro is Alt+Backspace; and,
- There were a few minor changes to some macro codes because of changes to LibreOffice 24.8. These changes will be transparent to you, but your old spreadsheet will have problems if you upgrade LibreOffice to 24.8 or later.
