Re: Transcriber Weather
Please send a few of your extra therms over to any transcribers in Scotland, my bedroom was at 65 and my downstairs living room at 60 when I got up this morning.
It's been hovering around this for the last few days. Most years I am considering opening the hatch into the loft to allow the heat to rise, this 'summer' I have been wondering whether to have a hot water bottle and reminding myself of my childhood when we weren't allowed to switch on the central heating in school until Oct 1 and it had to go off on May 1 irrespective of the thermometer reading (only hospitals were exempt).
Apparently they are having a heatwave in SE England just to turn us a deeper shade of green.

I should have some for you soon!
We had a wonderful cool spell, but it is now warming up. Today's high is supposed to be 89F/32C and Wednesday's is supposed to be 93F/34C

Interesting data from my home school.
https://extension.illinois.edu/blogs/al ... st-weather
44.8 That's 45 to 88 billon gallons of water a day from the Illinois average crop.
Almost enough for 50 people - depending, of course how many showers they are taking in that humidity.

Australia
The incredible run of August heat across the country has continued into the last days of the season, including in Birdsville which reached 39.7C on Friday — the highest winter maximum on record for Queensland.
Dozens of other locations also broke August and winter records on Friday as temperatures soared as much as 16 above average, including:
Queensland
Mount Isa 37.6C – new winter record
Longreach 37.7C — new winter record
Camooweal 37.8C — new winter record
NSW
Bourke 37.1C – new winter record
Tibooburra 36.0C — new winter record
Cobar 32.6C – new winter record
Sydney Airport 31.6C — new winter record
NT
Alice Springs 36.6C — new winter record
Uluru 37.45C — new winter record
Tennant Creek 36.4C – equalled winter record
At Sydney's official station at Observatory Hill the mercury reached 30.3C, the city's third-warmest winter temperature on record (the record is 31.3C from 1995).
Slightly cooler air is spreading across NSW and the southern NT today, however the odd record is still possible in Queensland, the NT and northern WA
Brisbane is predicted to hit 35C, which could challenge its winter record of 35.4C from August 2009.

Re: Transcriber Weather
But you need to keep it a secret; you really don't want all of Southern California to move in up there!
Re: Transcriber Weather
Forecast for today 98 F- 11 degrees F than yesterday's 109 F (37C and 43C) My plumeria leaves were drooping last night. I open the doors wide as soon as I am awake. It's 8:30 and I need to close up to keep the heat out.

Re: Transcriber Weather
Yesterday 28.9c and this morning min 14.3c, 21c inside at 0700
As spring has sprung we leave the front/back doors open when it's hotter outside, no point in paying to heat the house.

Re: Transcriber Weather
Not exactly weather- but certainly weather/ time of year related: We are overcome with ANTS. Popular advice is to keep your counters clear. Counters?? They come everywhere. Little bitty brown streams of feet. In the sink, in my cup, in the cupboard. Chalk and cinnamon are recommended- they wont cross - I would need a 2 foot stripe! Best hope is a borax mix for them to track back to their nest.............. only to come back with vengeance. Waiting for a good rain in November.
Re: Transcriber Weather
Good luck!!!
