Attention all hands
Re: Attention all hands
Shenandoah looks the same as always, but when I go to Lakawanna I get a bunch of pop-ups from Google about the new look for Google Forms. There is a lot more stuff, like a menu and links for editing.
I noticed that the link for Lakawanna ends with /edit. If I replace /edit with /viewform?pli=1&pli=1 so that it has the same ending as the link for Shenandoah the result is a page that still has two upload sections, but they appear to work; although I didn't try to do an actual upload since I'm not working on Lakawanna.

Re: Attention all hands
It's morning here, and things mostly are the same. The uploader for Kearsarge is not working. It, too, has the greyed out "Add File" box. Tuscarora, though, is fine. I just uploaded an image file there.
I will go some more investigating.

Re: Attention all hands
The current google seems to add 'edit'. It is not in the link.
Tuscarora has viewform in the link.

Re: Attention all hands
Try Gordon's fix of changing edit to viewform.
It seems to work for me.
I am going to add viewform to the links in Current ships.
That seems to have fixed the problem.
Tuscarora already had viewform in the file name. Now that I think about it, it didn't work without it.
I will go through the currently active ships and fix the links

Re: Attention all hands
Lackawanna should be OK now.
I will start on Kearsarge.
Kearsarge is done. I will work my way through the rest of our current ships today.

Re: Attention all hands
I have checked all the ships, trying to see a pattern. In the Dockyard, the following ships have broken uploaders:
In the Dockyard, most of the ships have broken uploaders. They are:
If were not for the three broken uploaders in the Dockyard, I would say that ships that have had files recently uploaded have had their uploaders broken. However, the Dockyard ships haven't been touched for a long time, so that theory has failed.
I have found one link about disabled uploaders, but it refers to uploaders in Shared drives, which is not our case. I will continue to look.
My first try to recreate the uploader for Onondaga did not work. I might try again. These things are quite tricky.

- Omaha
- Onondaga
- Shoshone

Re: Attention all hands
Kearsarge and Lackawanna are now working (I hope) with Gordon's solution
Re: Attention all hands
I missed the post about replacing /edit with /viewform?pli=1&pli=1
I just went to the Your Posts tabs, and to the end of the list.
I will work on some ships, too, Randi. Perhaps I will start at Yantic and work forward, alphabetically.
How about if we do only the years that still need to have data uploaded. Is there any point to updating links for years that have been completed?

Re: Attention all hands
Sounds good!
I used /viewform rather than /viewform?pli=1&pli=1

Re: Attention all hands
I tried to delete one of the Lackawanna Upload (File Responses) hoping that there would be only one Upload files showing instead of two. However, that just broke things, so I left them as they are.
Re: Attention all hands
Up to you.
I thought about it and figured that it might be more effort to pick which years needed changing than to simply change them all.
In any case, I am only doing currently active ships.
Re: Attention all hands
Yantic 1871, 1872, 1884-1890 and 1892-1896 done.
Villalobos all years done.
Shenandoah 1881-1886 done.
Sacramento (Gunboat) done. (Both years)
McCulloch was OK.
Lackawanna and Kearsasrge being done by Randi.
Ashuelot 1872-1882 Done.
Those are just for years that still needed to be transcribed. I didn't bother for years that were completed.

Re: Attention all hands
Some time ago, Stuart wondered if the cell focus colour could be changed. I submitted a request to the LibreOffice developers, and that has been done. You can now change the cell focus colour with Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Application Colors - Spreadsheet Cell Focus. I'm not sure when that was implemented, but it is in the latest version of LibreOffice.
Here is an example with the Cell Focus set to Yellow instead of the default blue.
I was puzzled by the change in version numbering. When we started, LibreOffice was Version 3. It was eventually Version 7, but I see that it is now Version 24. I checked, and some time ago they changed the numbering so that the latest versions reflect the year and month. The latest stable version is 24.8.0.
I have also asked that we be able to set the background colour when we are in Cell Edit mode with its own variable. Sometimes a font different from red is more easily read against the image. In this case, yellow. However, yellow does not show up against the white background when you are in Cell Edit more. Currently that Edit Mode colour is set in:
Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Application Colors - Document Background.
You can change that to some other colour, like Grey 2, but the background colours of all the other sheets in your spreadsheet change from white to some other colour and then they are difficult to read. The LibreOffice developers are thinking about making that change. Fingers crossed.

Re: Attention all hands
Nice one but cannot find it there in ver 24.2.5.2 (x86_64)
I did change it from one of Michaels previous posts (orPM) and that does still work.
