Shenandoah (1885): links, questions, comments, coordination, ...
Re: Shenandoah (1885): links, questions, comments, coordination, ...
For September 16, most of the AM weather data is obscured by an insert. There is no separate image with the insert moved over to the event page. I transcribed the AM values that were visible. All PM weather was visible.

September is complete. Another month of sitting in the port at Callao, Peru. Another month overcast with mist or drizzle almost the entire month. Another month with no liberty because of the port being quarantined.
Re: Shenandoah (1885): links, questions, comments, coordination, ...
October is complete. Still sitting in port at Callao, Peru. That 151 days since arriving at Callao. At least it's Spring now. So there is starting to be occasional sunny periods of a few hours now and then.
If the information at the top of this topic is correct, we should be leaving Callao soon.

Finally got underway on November 7.
Goodbye Callao.
Goodbye Callao.
Re: Shenandoah (1885): links, questions, comments, coordination, ...
Oops.
I haven't had any events in the log with more than one line since before Randi's note not to use Enters in the Event Wizard. So I forgot about that now that we're underway again. I've made a few event entries containing Enters, but I'll stop doing that going forward.

Not to worry, I wrote an awk script to join those lines. A major problem is now just a minor issue. Still, it is better not to have those broken lines, as I call them, at all.

Don't feel bad, Gordon. After doing it that way for years, it isn't so easy to change. I have caught myself hitting enter a few times and quickly fixed it, but I have probably missed a case or two...

The end of the log was reached on November 16. Starting the next log.
Re: Shenandoah (1885): links, questions, comments, coordination, ...
OK, Gordon! I'll work on this as soon as I finish the three years of Lackawanna waiting for me! I must put an end to this business of going away to visit children and grandchildren! It's interfering with my OW duties.
Re: Shenandoah (1885): links, questions, comments, coordination, ...
November 17 had this entry about the barometer. It's in red ink. So I'm guessing it was added to the log sometime later.
Mecurial Barometer 7 5/12 feet above the level of the sea - Returned from the hands of the Instrument Master, Boston Mass. Dec. 22, 1883, being 06" high
