Charleston, South Carolina
At 10:30 PM observed a total eclipse of the moon. The eclipse commenced at 9:20, covered the whole disc of the moon at 10:30 and terminated at 1:30 A.M.

1130 A. M.
Turned the ship over to the authorities of the Yard by order of Rear Adm S. C. Rowan. Hauled down the Ensign and Pennant.

The voyage for 1866 has been completed in record time. They went from Charleston to the Norfolk Navy Yard with stops in Port Royal and Beaufort Harbor and they did minimal weather observations only every four hours, making the voyage calculations very quick and easy. You can see a plot of the voyage here and, for more detail, you can download the KML file and view it in Google Earth.
