Pioneer refers to a Breakwater Light in San Pedro Harbor. This seems to be indexed as Angels Gate Lighthouse.

The name can be found under 'Alternate Names' and th light is situated at a breakwater on the map.

That's OK, they'll be there if I come back later!!

They keep coming though.
Point Cabrillo Light does not seem to be on the Geographic names but it is in the California lighthouse and Wikipedia databases.

Yep it's one of the oldest places we added to the database (placename number 56). Back then i used to keep the light information with the point, so if you look at the reference thread the lighthouse is in the notes for Cabrillo Point/Point Cabrillo.

After a while i realized that there were a lot of exceptions where the lighthouse was relatively far from the place it took the name from, and that multiple lighthouse could have overlapped in different position in the course of time, at least for US we have plenty of records so we can pinpoint their position pretty well. Therefore at a certain moment i changed the method and now i keep the two (the point and the light in this case) always separated. For the old entries, i'm fixing them along the way... and this is one of those cases, so thanks for pointing it out! :D

I've just separated the two things in the db (even if in this specific case the point and the light are indeed very close one another), creating a new entry for the light. I edited references shortly after you last post... so your previous places are all already on the reference thread.
Will get this one on the thread too as soon as i get a few more (note: all the places i add to the database are immediately visible on all the maps, lists and tools on https://owtools.scienceontheweb.net/ - to get them on the reference threads i need to make a little copy-paste work so i usually wait to have a few before editing).

Place number 1 of our collection, if anyone is curious , is the Admiralty Inlet in the state of Washington and was added on 26 October 2014, almost 10 years ago :o

Navy and NOAA Search for U.S. Schooner Alligator near the 200th Anniversary of Its Loss
This article talks about the Alligator Reef and Alligator Reef Lighthouse in our database!

Surveying near Alligator Reef Lighthouse. It was constructed in 1873 and continued service until 2014.
The structure marks the nearby reef system that caused several shipwrecks prior to its construction.
It is named for Alligator, which may have wrecked in the vicinity of the lighthouse.

Thanks Gordon!

Both added to database. I've moved North Point a little southeast on geonames as, looking at the various maps, the place is more properly located at the end of North Point Street (it makes sense!) where it met Kearney Street.

Pioneer reports a light at Ano Nuevo in California. A little digging shows that it was on the island not the point. Started off with just fog then light added with facilities for keeper. Discontinued in 1948, started in 1872 .
