Burton Island (1954) -- Discussion: Questions, Comments and Coordination
Re: Burton Island (1954) -- Discussion: Questions, Comments and Coordination
I'm not sure who is getting the re-supply, unless it's the ship. They were off Russell Point, not Russell Island. There is an airstrip at Sachs Harbor. The population of Banks Island is 156, all of whom live in Sachs Harbor. I knew a woman from there, she was married to one of the people I worked with in Whitehorse.

For some reason your validator did not like 800 in the Dir column.
Wonder why?? I guess you would get dizzy with that wind dir.

Just passed Pt Conception. Is there the birth of a good story there?

I am assuming the DIR was entered in the wrong column (Gyro) so I have entered it in Dir

I agree. Those typed logs have many errors. The typists didn't have overlays like we do.

Nor a program to check their entries

She was a busy little ship during that year, and it must have been an interesting voyage for the crew. (and transcribers)
