Re: Transcriber Weather
Randi, your lows are close to our highs (at the moment).
Predictions are for a warmer than average July to Sept.

Thunderstorm!
Windy with lots of thunder and lightning.
23:35 - Quiet now although it is still raining a bit.
Had a bit more thunder too, but nothing like earlier.

Re: Transcriber Weather
Just to contrast with the very hot and dry weather in southern Europe, had a weekend of almost continuous rain in northern England, particularly heavy on Sunday. 3-4" in total. Lots of flooded roads and flood warnings for the rivers. Max temp 17C. Is it still July?
Re: Transcriber Weather
It was the same in Atlantic Canada, where they had record floods. Several people died. We, on the other hand, have had a long spell of dry weather. We have no received 0.6 mm of rain overnight, but I don't think that was enough to end the drought.
Re: Transcriber Weather
Here in Northern Virginia it was a very dry fall and winter and it seems like summer is trying to make up for that by being incredibly wet and humid.
Speaking of rain, Friday the Red Sox game was rained out in Boston and it was just an incredible amount of rain. The storm came up very suddenly and the videos after the game was called showed it flooding down in the dugouts, the pitching bullpen, and into the clubhouse. Up to people's shins! That is a shocking amount of rain for a July rain delay in Boston.

From UK Weather: When will it stop raining?
I'm just a few miles away from Preston and this doesn't surprise me!Some places have even seen their wettest Julys on record, such as Castlederg in County Tyrone, NI, and Preston in north-west England. Both stations have seen two to three times the average July rainfall.
Re: Transcriber Weather
Feel free to send some rain to Pittsburgh
Re: Transcriber Weather
Here too please.
My weather station near rainy Seattle has measured 1.5 mm of rain this July, with continued sunny hot weather forecast for the next week.

Re: Transcriber Weather
We had 11.4 mm, but all of it fell in one day. It was a daily record, and we also tied the record for the fewest days of precipitation in July. Most of B.C. is at drought Level 5, and most of the Fire Danger Ratings are Extreme. Unlike Australia, we don't have the Catastrophic category. We probably should...
Re: Transcriber Weather
I have been trying to persuade the clouds to go where they would be more welcome but it doesn't seem to be working.
Got very wet yesterday volunteering with Lancashire Wildlife Trust (although the sun did come out in the evening). Woken by thunderstorm about 4am, still raining now.

Expecting High of 23c
I really feel sorry for the people on Maui with their fires.
I hope our summer does not end up like theirs did.

Getting ready for HILARY- our first eastern Pacific hurricane in way before my lifetime. Got advice from sister who winters in Florida. She mistakenly thinks I can fit all my lawn chairs, table and the like in my garage. HA. A little rain would be nice.
Re: Transcriber Weather
Good luck!
Re: Transcriber Weather
Our dustup with Hurricane Hilary was mostly a non-event. Everyone is ahead of the season and have their lawn furniture put away before we will want to use it on Labor Day (Sept 4th, here.) We are not know for preparing ahead or following directions to stay in-place, but things were pretty quick with folks indoors. We got 2.7 inches (4.3cm) of rain in 24 hours. This is a big deal for us. Beats cumulative summer records. 70 miles east of us in Palm Springs- noted for its hot dry weather, they received a year's worth in a few hours. Their infrastructure is not build for it- so they had some street flooding. It was a tropical storm by the time the wind hit us about mid-night. It woke me up. I got up to look at the radar and satellite images. You couldn't really see an eye, it was disorganized and much weaker. I had a butterfly bush and pomegranate tree that flatten a bit- mostly due to the weight of the rain. They stood back up once dried. We also had an earthquake -5.5 mag about 70 miles north of us. We were in the car and did not feel it. I think the rest of the country that we were doomed (and may have been cheering), but all is back to normal- until the weeds decide what they are going to do.
Re: Transcriber Weather
I'm glad it worked out!
