Hey all, I've got a meeting on Tuesday with Tim Walker (from the NPR interview) and Dr. Caroline Ummenhofer from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. I'll keep you posted on how it goes. :)

(Hopefully this will result in the whaling logbooks starting back up, espross, in which case I'll message you first :D )

Meeting Update!

I would say the meeting went well. We are in tentative initial talks to possibly either merge projects or become sister projects. Tim, Caroline, and I will talk more over the next couple of weeks to see what that might look like. Our interests in the logbooks seem to align, though, so that is a good sign. Sorry I don't have anything more definitive yet, but it's the best lead I've had in months. :) Everyone cross your fingers!

Neat! Thanks for doing that. Do they have a website describing what they’re doing (I could Google this but thought you might know)?

Today's new word, from among many created in Germany in response to the pandemic. What do you think a Schnutenpulli is? Literally it's a snout sweater - so a cosier word for mask.

I do miss Craig. He did a lot of work on the early versions of the spreadsheet, and he was a great help guiding me on the intricacies of LibreCalc basic. He had relatives that lived across the inlet from our house, and he spent a couple of summers there about 60 years ago. I worked at a park that bordered his neighbour's cabin, and we figured we probably bumped into each other during the summers that he was there.
