Mostly correct. It was not the ironbridge museum but did go there. I am looking for one which has the name ( a colour) given to that part of the country.

I am pleased to see you are only answering one clue each. That gives others a chance to look up things about the UK.
The pub name is still missing and its name does not refer to mail.

Today, was just a loop around the Cotswolds area

This was a really lovely place to visit.
There is evidence that there were settlements as far back as the Stone and Bronze Ages. In fact, currency bars from 300 BC were found during an excavation of one of these settlements. They now live in the British Museum in London.
The king (Charles 1) and his son, the future Charles II, stayed in the manor house and his army camped on what are now the playing fields of the Cotswold School. The Brits now have Charles 3.
Name the town.

These twin towns have a name related to butchers or abattoirs. ( don't ask me, I did not name them )
The mill in one town is mentioned in the Doomsday book.
Name the twin towns.
Bonus points for the old English name for these places.


The High Street in this town is lined with buildings built from locally quarried oolitic limestone known as Cotswold stone, and boasts a wealth of vernacular architecture.
This place has hosted its own Olympic Games since 1612.
Since the early seventeenth century the town has been home to a championship of rural games, which later turned into Robert Dover's Cotswold Olimpick Games.
The town is an end point of the Cotswold Way, a 102-mile long-distance footpath..

Are the twin towns Upper and Lower Slaughter?

The first town is Bourton-on-the-Water, where they play football (soccer) in the river.

Sat 27th. Long weekend in UK. Verrruy busy on roads and all the nice little tourist places. Not many pics coming.
Please provide myself and other with any interesting info for each stop that you find.

First stop
A lovely little village and took some pics of a well photographed row of 14 century houses.

It boasts a Classic Motor Hub with classic, vintage and collectable cars and is based on a former RAF site.

The river Coln runs through the village and has swans and trout
They also run a duck race on the river.

Next stop.
I went for a ( slightly underwhelming) river cruise on the river Avon. (Maybe I should have joined the Romans for a wash here. )

Mary Shelley wrote much of Frankenstein while living here from September 1816 to March 1817 .

The Royal Crescent is arguably most singularly impressive Georgian piece of architecture in this city.

Next stop.
This place is in Wales.
It has one of only 4 Transporter bridges in the world. (Unfortunately down for sheduled maintenance till late 2023.)

Sunday 28 May.
Missed the first two places I wanted to see
, to busy and no parking.
The first and second would have been a little cheesy but gorgeous place with lots of holes in the ground.
I did manage to stop at a place not far from there.
If you are looking for caves, legends and adventure you must stop here.
I met a witch and warlock here. The witch had here broomstick and was very aerodynamic shaped.

Next big stop was on a virtuall island in the olden days for it was completely surrounded by marshlands. Its famous for its old Abbey which was a monostry. It is said to be connected with legend to a degree that is unparalleled by any other abbey in England.
Names such as Edmund 1 Edmund Ironside and King Arthur.
The tombs of the Saxon kings buried here were placed on either side of Arthur’s tomb. Edmund the Elder was reburied to the north and Edmund Ironside to the south.
They have a little hippy festival here were 210,000 (approx.) attended this year.

It's a very tall structure. I think it is so high to position the guy wires to support the load over the span.

OH! Upper and Lower Slaughter, I know them from British Murder mysteries I read and watch. I never looked them up- I supposed I presumed they were fictional names. Hope you hear some singing in Wales! Safe journeys!

And ... Slaughter "comes from old English 'Slohtre', which has nothing to do with killing things and means, simply, 'muddy place' ".
