Not me.

Given that it is in the UK, maybe it is something Philip set up?

Maybe it is something connected to the old forum? We did move over here about three years ago. However, the old forum has been used at least on occasion since then.

I did. I suspect it's spam. In any case, I deleted it and went on with my day.

In case this might help. I ran a Whois on the domain jiscmail.ac.uk and got this result.

If you look up oldweathercommunity at JISCMAIL you will see the following:
*RETAIN LIST ***This list has been retained 21/06/2016 no one can subscribe to this list and no one can post to this list contact helpline@jiscmail.ac.uk for all enquiries regarding this list*** We would like to send out newsletters to a subset of the Zooniverse (http://www.zooniverse.org) community who participate in the Old Weather project (http://www.oldweather.org).This email list will be used to email members of the public who have agreed to receive email newsletters from us about the project.
So it appears to have been moribund since June of 2016.

I tried sending a message to it and it was rejected because my email address is not a member of the list (and according to the notice above, the list has been locked).

Whatever it was we'll just assume it's defunct. If it was something set up by Philip, you'll never get an answer out of him.

Not a common sight in Victoria, Australia.

It looks better than the ones I went all the way up to northern Norway to see in the mid winter. :(

Did you actually see it like this? That is amazing. family in the center of North America have seen a little. We have too many lights and it's been overcast.

Unfortunately I live a bit further north (33°05'33.7"S 151°26'56.0"E) and did not see this display, but have seen them elsewhere.

Looks like they had a better display on the following night.

Another great bit of info from our ABC.

I just got back from the grocery store.
The machine refused my credit card (I called the bank and they didn't know of any problems).
I had $40 of groceries and only $20 cash so I started handing back items.
The guy behind me, whom I had never seen before, gave the cashier $20!!!!!!!!!!
