Lieut. Harber, U.S.N. was suspended while officer of the deck, by the Comd'g Officer for unofficer-like, undignified, + improper conduct, by the striking one of the watch with deck trumpet, and also was relieved by the Ex Officer who kept the remainder of the watch by my order.

Callao, Peru.

The following order was issued by the Comd'g Officer: No more than 300 gallons of water per day will be used until further orders.

For the next couple of days at least, they're distilling about 225 gallons per watch. They stopped distilling at 8 PM on the 10^th.

On December 17th, we came into Valparaiso Harbor and exchanged numbers with USS Adams. We have mainly seen the USS Onward, a stores ship that's always in Callao, (I think it's Callao), and the USS Richmond and Pensacola. They used to be the flag vessels for the South Pacific Station. We're the flag vessel now, but I don't now for how long.
