Since Stuart has left this year to me, I'd like to reserve this year 1868.

As I approach the end of Dec 1868, here are some of the entries I found interesting/significant over the course of the year (including one death, which started out as a usual absent-without-leave, so was a bit shocked when the body was reported found.) :

049 10 May 1868
0800h Found that Alfred H Insey (Seaman) was absent from the ship without permission. Sent a description list of him to the US Marshal and offered a reward of Ten Dollars for his delivery on board.

055 16 May 1868
0700h Took the body of Alfred H Insey on show for interment
065 26 May 1868
1315h Took the head and foot boards of Alfred H Insey (Sea, deceased) on shore to the cemetery and set them at his grave

0146 15 August 1868
0545h Dressed ship in flags, rainbow style, French flag at the fore, in honor of the anniversary of the birthday of Napoleon III. 1200h Fired a salute of 21 guns in honor of the day

0164 2 Sept 1868
