Was gone for a week and received 7 cm rain in my gauge. Nearly filled my backyard pond; it gets runoff from an additional area. I rarely put water in it- especially as we have been in a drought. The gold fish were about to have to learn to walk. Now they are doing swimmingly.

I saw a few tiny snowflakes drifting down earlier this morning.

We got a couple inches of snow overnight.
It's still here - including in the street I live on.
At 1:20pm it's -7C and cloudy.

Woke up to find a white world outside. Not deep snow just a covering but clinging to every branch - lovely. I got back from my brother's yesterday and was planning an early morning supermarket shop. However, I arrived earlier than likely and decided to head to the shops before I went home (I knew I wouldn't go out again once I'd taken my coat off!). When I looked out of the window I felt very smug, no picking my way through trampled snow in the carpark nor clearing snow off the car. It should warm up tomorrow so nature will clear the car and paths for me before I need the car to go to church.

Well done - wonderful to miss the lumpy slush. I hate lumpy slush. I have a poor sense of balance so the lumps tend to win and my rear end tends to connect with the slush

Ironically, when I go to a friend's in icy weather, the easiest part of my route is usually a very steep hill.
The hill is almost always salted and there isn't a lot of traffic in bad weather, so I can walk in the street.
In fact, if I remember correctly, yesterday it was the only street that had been salted.

I just looked, and my street still hasn't been plowed - not that it really matters to me since I don't have a car

We've had temperatures near +4 for about 48 hours, so the snow is going fast. I walked downtown this morning, and lots of sidewalks had lumpy slush, as do some streets. Sidewalks in front of houses where people shoveled were clear, so you immediately tell which owners were diligent about shoveling and those where weren't. Yesterday morning there were 12 cm of snow on the ground. It was down to seven cm this morning, and now I see patches of grass in places.

Because Kidlington is deemed a village the Council (right up in Banbury) doesn't salt anything but the main Oxford Road and the Bicester Road, not even the High Street gets done. And our road is never done and is in the shade of the houses so is the slowest to thaw At least my block does its own paths

I have an especially tough and deep brush - no snow can withstand it. (Kidlington-we-don't-get-weather's idea of snow is about 4" on a bad day )

The lethal bit of road near me is the service road to the side of my house which I use with the car. It gets next to no sun in the winter and, since the cars drive up and down, it gets rather like a skating rink. Thank heavens the Council now collect my wheelie bins because getting one of those down to the road for the bin lorry (it won't fit down our service road) used to be a nightmare if we had snow or black ice from heavy rain followed by frost. There is only 1 house where the inhabitants are over 16 and under 60 (a single mum with a 17 year old son). It isn't too bad to drive on but lethal on foot. THe worst is packed snow, half melted and re-frozen over night.

Rain and a temperature of 5C are in the process of washing away the snow.

Our snow has gone, other than in a few places where it was piled up.

Over the last 3 days the lowest temp was 20.3C and a max of 30.2C.
