Ashuelot was part of the Asiatic Squadron from 1867 until her loss in 1883.

I take it that this is the USS Ashuelot and not the USRC Ashuelot of a similar era?

Yup

The USRC Ashuelot (1863 to 1869) was a Pawtuxet-class cutter, so it would have looked similar to the USRC Levi Woodbury:


Ironically, this ship also ended up in the Far East, but not until after she was decommissioned.
