Please mention any names of ships seen, or met, or gamed with. It is possible that a nearby ship may have a latitude and longitude for that small area of sea, but that is missing from this ship's log. Equally this ship might provide the position of those other ships.
Not all logs provide a crew list. You might find names in the log to post here.
Quite often you will see the name of another Captain in a log book and usually the other ship will be named, but not always so.
Here is a fascinating volume of the Whaling Masters, Voyages 1731-1925. The 'replacement' masters listing at the far end of the volume is interesting too.

Re: Crews and Ships Met
Thanks Sandy! Winthrop eh? Perhaps part of THE Winthrops? One of our commonly mentioned ships is the 'John and Winthrop'. So I looked 'John Winthrop' up to find:
'John Winthrop Sn. obtained a royal charter, along with other wealthy Puritans, from King Charles I for the Massachusetts Bay Company and led a group of English Puritans to the New World in 1630. He was elected the governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony the year before.'
I have lived and learnt today.
