My San Francisco daughter wanted the five minute video my Australian daughter made when she was working on an Aids project in Uganda for the Canadian International Development Agency. Many years ago, she spent six months in a village in southwest Uganda and, to help a family headed by a widow, she bought three goats for them. (I don't remember if they're in the video. She's transporting them in a small boat.) She asked our church in Whitehorse if we would buy 40 goats for $40 (each). We raised more money than the $1,600 and sent it to her. Some of the village men wouldn't let her buy the goats, because she would be charged too much, so they went to do the buying. They got more than 40 goats! The seven groups each elected a leader who was given a billy goat. If I remember correctly, some of the money was used to send the seven leaders a two day course in caring for goats. And, if memory serves, one or two of those leaders were sent on a much longer course, maybe a month or two, in caring for goats.
