High at my house yesterday was 31.7. Currently it's 30.7 and looking like it will be hotter then yesterday. This is much above average, but not unusual for this time of year.

Went to a friend's for dinner.
Shortly after I arrived, there was a torrential downpour and some hail. Then the power went out. Fortunately, he has a backup generator which was installed after a winter when he was without power (and heat) for several days.

Luckily, I did not lose power.

RAIN! Rare summer shower in coastal Southern California. Not really measurable in my rudimentary gauge, but it (and the thunder) was enough to finally drive us, abandon our gardening and move indoors.
Funny thing, it really only rains here in the winter. My daughters grew up in a drought. When it did rain, finally, they were indoors for a week in March and started to panic. Traveling to see relatives in the summer, they went out to play in the warm rain; they thought was very novel. My family basically said my kids didn't know enough to come in out of the rain!
Nice to have trees and bushes washed off.

One of our friends moved to North Vancouver from Quebec. He was a school principal and, during a rainy day in October, he kept the kids inside for recess. The next day it was still raining and he kept the kids inside again. The teachers wondered why he was keeping them inside. "Because it's raining," he said. "In Quebec, we keep the kids indoors when it's raining."

"So, do you plan to keep the kids inside every day from now to March?" the teachers asked. "They have grown up here and, unlike the kids in Quebec, they are used to rain."

The next day, the kids were outside, playing in the rain.

That makes the Lancashire UK forecast (15C and cloudy) sound pretty good, although we could actually do with some rain (not something I get to say often!)

The weather site says Pittsburgh is 28C and sunny.
Having looked out my windows, I say that the weather site is not in my immediate vicinity

The hot weather hitting the West has made its way up to Seattle. It's been rather warm the last couple of days, but much warmer today. At Noon it was 32.2 at my house and now it's 32.9. It's supposed to cool down a few degrees the rest of this week and then back up to 36 for the weekend. During hot weather, my house is usually a couple degrees warmer than the forecast, so it could well reach 38; 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Those of us who moved here for the cool rainy weather are not happy. :x
