Welcome aboard. As someone who qualifies as an OW 'Old Salt' on various counts I'm sure you'll find a niche in our ever expanding fleet. Don't be afraid to sample the various options although you'll probably spend most of your time on just one of them. Unlike the 'real' Navy we get the choice of roles (and even get to choose our working hours and leave!!). Have fun and don't be afraid to ask if you can't figure out something. We've all been there and usually someone can help.

HI! I think you will find this one of the most knowledgeable, friendly groups of people. Just getting started myself, I can attest they take very basis questions and add patience and good humor!

Welcome.

I look forward to getting to know y'all better. I'd say I've got a good grasp on what I've been working on, but I don't want to jinx it.

Hi all!

I've been working on the Burton Island for a bit so I figured I should introduce myself. I'm an ex-Pacific Northwesterner living in Colorado and my day job is in an atmospheric research lab, so this project is right up my alley! I've been missing getting to do fieldwork over the last year so I'm enjoying getting to look at someone else's weather observations in the meantime :)

Hi,

Officially I am a returning transcriber, but this is the first time on the new forum. I was previously involved with the Phase 3 work and joined around the end of 2014 ish. I was first introduced to OW by my now husband (Danny252 on the old forum) when we were comparing which Zooniverse projects we had been involved with. Had lots of fun transcribing weather for USS Yorktown and some of the other ships. Have dabbled with a bit of editing in the past but eventually life got in the way. Have recently found more time and have decided to try to help out again.

Welcome back, Jess. We're so glad to see you online again! Things have changed a lot since Phase III: new forum; new way of entering data; and, new people. But, lots of the old hands are still here!

Hi everyone,
I just joined Old Weather a few days ago. I'm looking forward to contributing to the project and learning about the ships and voyages.
