"A line crossing ceremony aboard the Simon Bolivar in the 19th century. This ceremony commemorates a sailor´s first crossing of the Equator. A sailor is made to jump over a fire whilst the crew throw buckets of water at him. From América Pintoresca, published 1884."

Happy Birthday Espross.
When we crossed the equator I would ask the passengers onboard if they saw the dotted line.
When they said no, I would say, "well be must have sailed through one of the gaps".
